Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Candice Bergen from the far-right called Justin Trudeau a “dictator” for invoking the Emergencies Act.
Candice Bergen the interim Opposition Leader in Canada’s House of Commons replacing one that was tossed by the struggling Conservative Party earlier in the month has said the invocation of the Emergencies Act was done to bolster Prime Minister’s standings in the polls. Indirectly that seems true. NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, said it well, Trudeau had to “do something, and now”.
The Russian Federation news media, which typically tends to be conservative and even somewhat calm and reserved, has been fanatical about its support of the truck convoys and their unwitting supporters blocking Canadian bridges to the United States thus attacking critical infrastructure in both nations during a hybrid war.
Concomitantly, Canada and the USA are involved in a worsening hybrid war with Russia. 76% Or more of Canada’s national output is sold to the United States hence Canada needs to take care of its customer, the United States. That is true of all business relationships. How much that is exploited by the customer is where lines may need to be drawn.
But it is no less true that as close as Canada is to the USA, Canada can be punished by Russia with limited Canada retaliation and without America even wincing.
In this insurrection, the USA winced hence Canada was told in no uncertain terms to use its federal powers to fix the problems at border crossings because the cost to American industry was enormous. At stake was the Canada/USA Auto Manufacturing pact which strongly benefits Canadians. Trudeau then had the politically allied NDP and the USA neighbour and number one customer urging action.
Trudeau erred on the side of caution. The Emergencies Act should have been requested by Ottawa Police at least three weeks ago. Two weeks ago, failing the request, the Emergencies Act should have been invoked by the minister of Public safety with the Prime Minister. Trudeau’s Cabinet has been asleep at the wheel.
That same Cabinet approved the sending of Canadian troops to Ukraine with tons of weapons and money to buy more mortars and more artillery shells with which to attack ethnic Russians in Luhansk PR and Donetsk PR in the midst of raging civil war, which even Russian fears. Russia would and did retaliate.
Russia put at its border matching troops to those of the Ukrainian’s and American’s to counter the security risk of the Ukrainian civil war, according to Dimitry Polyanskiy Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations says that because of this massive buildup of Ukrainian, American, British, Australian, Canadian, and other nations weapons and troops along the border with Russia, Luhansk PR and Donetsk PR , “shelling civilians”, it will keep its troops at the border and “that is nobody’s business” where in Russia, the Federation parks its jeep. Now the Ottawa Police Chief, a truly good cop, maybe not a decisive leader but in the context of Canadian politeness, he’s our beloved Ottawa Police Chief, has resigned, and the job is now tougher than ever as the critical infrastructure has been besieged and corrupted by far-right anarchists.
Canadian police had no tools to manage the problem. Now a reserved use of the Emergencies Act.
The Canadian prime minister said he invoked the Emergencies Act after conversations with his caucus, provincial premiers and opposition leaders, adding that the move does not include calling in the military or overriding civil rights as set out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
There was nothing in the Canada Criminal Code to help law enforcement in this giant pretext of festival civility that planned to surreptitiously create ill-advised public policy; overthrow the Canadian federal government; damage Canadian infrastructure and make a lot of money with the help of malign foreign actors supported heavily by the Russian Federation in its hybrid war with Canada and the USA.
‘US White House officials wishing not to comment publicly have tacitly endorsed the move. Sources say, Biden repeatedly urged this measure to stop the attack on US and Canadian critical infrastructure,’ notes Melissa Hemingway following conversations with her sources.
Critical infrastructure attack in a hybrid war.
That is the essence of hybrid war. ‘Do what I want you to do or I will destroy your economy.‘ Well, the West is doing that to Russia too, can you really act surprised Russia reciprocates?
Canada and the USA are protecting themselves from Russian attacks just as Russia does the same by increasing its self sufficiency and building relationships with other allies, like Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, China.
Every day on Russian media broadcast to the United States, the organizers of the far-right trucker convoy movement are given millions of dollars worth of publicity.
Add Fox News and Sean Hannity who has gone as far as saying “People may die” if truckers are arrested.
Name calling in a street-fight level of toilet-talk vernacular has been the hallmark of Fox News.
Russian TV coverage has far more class and extreme levels of credibility, but just like CNN, it’s all propaganda hyperbole when there is an Administration position on the topic under discussion, like the insurrection in Canada which from the Kremlin’s position, needs some more accelerant.
It’s war. Both sides are doing this malfeasance. Truth was the first casualty in this hybrid war. But that is no place for the Conservative Party of Canada.
Then from the other side of the HoC the Canadian Conservative Party dropped to that level screaming hysterically that Trudeau is a dictator and the opposition has no say in anything.
This has been happening as these far-right wingnuts have been assisting in the blocking of traffic, sieging of cities, blocking of border bridges and generally destroying Canada’s critical infrastructure. By any real definition in Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea, this is called an insurrection.
“Freedom-Convoy 2022”
It’s an insurrection that continues and one that is being handled with great caution by police services. Why arrest somebody if a Crown Attorney will refuse carriage of the file? So the Emergencies Act helps. Cops can go back to doing their jobs.
