We Stand With Refugees

Do you stand #WithRefugees?

It’s about finding bold, humane and innovative solutions for refugees. Got any ideas? “Everyone is welcome”,  says Katie Alsop of The RINJ Foundation which she says has launched a surge awareness campaign for #WithRefugees.

“Refugees should be able to live in safety, access education, and support their families”, she added.

According to Sharon Santiago of The RINJ Foundation, the global Women’s Civil Society group has teamed with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to encourage the world to stand #WithRefugees. She wants you to join in the fun.

Do You Remember: Wendy, “Yazidi in Iraq Needs a Liver Transplant”

The RINJ Foundation in Iraq had been reaching out to friends in the medical field.

Ed. Note: 29 September, 2018: We are extremely sad to say that refugee ‘Wendy’ of Duhok, Iraq passed away earlier this year.  May she rest in peace. ‘Thank you’ to all the valiant warriors who fought to save her life. She will never be forgotten.

The best way to help a refugee is to give them a productive role. Teach new skills. Get them ether self-employed or into a working skills-retention environment. — Sharon Santiago, RINJ

Can you help us?

Your signature will encourage decision makers to:

  • Ensure every refugee child gets an education.
  • Ensure every refugee family has somewhere safe to live.
  • Ensure every refugee can work or learn new skills to support their families.

The campaign continues until a global compact for refugees is adopted in 2018. Add your name to show the world you stand #WithRefugees.

Treating Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome

War Survivors suffer Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Post Traumatic Rape Syndrome (PTRS) is suffered by rape survivors. PTRS is a different illness than PTSD . The RINJ Foundation medical practitioners have become very talented in identifying PTSD and PTRS in clinical cases, refugee camps and IDP camps.

According to Santiago, some of the work RINJ has done with traumatized patients in refugee camps includes numerous crafts like RINJ’s famous tongue depressor bird houses. Sharon tells me her bird house at her home has now survived two major Signal 5 typhoons. She has done much more than that. – Melissa
