Did You Know: Gender Equality Enhances Society and Pumps $Cash into the Economy

From this time forward women and men must start remembering that gender equality is a recipe for prosperity. Closing the expanded global economic gender gap is the new international challenge for sustainable human development.

by Melissa Hemingway (Feminine Perspective Staff writer)

Feminism is a doctrine that advocates equal rights for men and women. Are you a feminist or not? Feminists can make you rich.

Advancing women’s equality can add as much as $12 trillion to the global economy. Are you a feminist? It pays huge corporate dividends to be a feminist.

Improving gender parity on your corporations’ board of directors and more importantly at the level of hands-on executive management can double your business. Are you a feminist?

Gender inequality is not only a pressing moral and social issue but also a critical economic challenge. If women—who account for half the world’s working-age population—do not achieve their full economic potential, the global economy will suffer. While all types of inequality have economic consequences, in the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) report, The power of parity: How advancing women’s equality can add $12 trillion to global growth, MGI focuses on the economic implications of lack of parity between men and women.  McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) report is worth the time it takes to read.

The Canadian government has just released some interesting study results with its recent 2018 budget.

Canada is a small country that lives in a world of its own in terms of GDP. The nation performs extraordinarily in most important sectors. What I am trying to say is that its economic performance numbers are not reasonable comparisons for the countries we are most concerned about nor are the strategies of the past particularly noteworthy however the plan for the future is startling.

Canada plans to exceed its already excellent economic performance by advancing gender parity; enhancing women’s equality not just in the workplace but within academia, society, government and importantly, on the corporate top floor and in the boardroom. Canada has learned that Feminists Can Make You Rich.

“Canadian women and men are among the most educated in the world—ranking first among Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries in Post-Secondary Education by population” claims the Canadian Finance Department in its annual budget dissertation.

In the following gender distribution of employment graph you can see both problems and with the right attitude, some amazing opportunities.

The RINJ Foundation Women, (and me, Melissa, in particular) has in the past been very critical of  the status of women in Canada. Years of browbeating women by the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and successive Cabinets left Canada in a sad state. It is still not good.

The damage done to women’s rights in Canada by a misogynist Harper  government for nearly ten years is comprehensive.  Canada’s rape culture is out of the box. The Canadian Criminal Code doesn’t even mention “rape“,  and the Canadian Courts seldom hear rape cases but when they do they smile on rapists with little wrist slaps while destroying the reputation and life of the survivor. Only India is worse. There, rape survivors are dead meat.

One day I woke up in Syria with enough time to read a week-old newspaper with headlines that referred to a 50% female Canadian Cabinet. (OK so that explosion was closer than I realized and I was dead or unconscious in the midst of some weird fantasy.)

Canada has turned over a new leaf? The effect is slow. Even women in Canada are misogynists. I was chatting to a Canadian female who worked with Patrick Brown, the former Ontario Opposition Leader. He was in the process of getting busted for trying to sex his teenaged office staff member(s) back when he was a federal government parliament member under that misogynist S. Harper.  She didn’t understand why I suggested Brown simply apologise, do some remedial counseling or behaviour modification training and move on. She like Brown said he had earned this entitlement as a hard hustling politician for the good of the “party”. WTF!

It’s like the government of Canada has started listening to the The RINJ Foundation Women,  its pain in the ass activist group which earned international renown as Civil Society activists for the safety of women with no time for home, just the occasional growl over the shoulder from distant places that often hurt like hemorrhoids.

Couldn’t be. So we will say that even though these goals are ours and Canada is on the same page, we are word for word grabbing the Canadian government’s gender equality goals for Canada and adopting them for the world. Perfect. Here, you follow these guidelines and your country or your company can enjoy significant rewards.

Why screw around? If you want significant earnings, grow your nation or business with gender parity. It works. Start making some serious money.
