USA and Canada must boost healthcare fast and lockdown, say experts.

It has not started yet. Bill Gates calls this COVID-19 situation a “nightmare scenario” in a CNN Town Hall session.

“Community spread without mitigation, is going to kill many Americans,” said Gates.

“If we do this [shutdown] right, these numbers will start to come down,” said Gates. “Maybe in ten weeks.”

As early as January 2020, governments in North America were sternly warned that COVID-19 was coming. In the case of the United States, President Trump quashed testing while Canadian Prime Minister was getting hoarse trying to warn Canadians who listened to the laxidasical Americans and went to parties instead of following the Canadian edict, “Stay Home Stay Safe”.

Readers will look back and say, “These numbers are very low.”

True. These numbers have already exceeded the world’s worst but are very low compared to what will soon be reported, say the researchers tracking the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic since December 2019.

“In Canada, government has been leaping over tall buildings trying to get the public to lock down,” notes Dr. Anderson of The RINJ Foundation. His global civil society organization and its partners have also been urging a lockdown.

“It is improbable that any single person on Earth has done as much as Dr. Theresa Tam,” notes FPM.news women’s health columnist, Cathy Williams.

Dr. Tam is the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada. Her efforts to rally Canadian support for the correct steps needed counter the ‘anti vaxxers’ to protect Canadians against the measles, small pox, influenza and other communicable diseases for which there are vaccines. Now she leads the fight against COVID-19 and its cause, the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Backed by civil society, Dr. Tam has been out front in public trying to educate the Canadian public to encourage a nation wide lockdown. She is Canada’s Dr. Tony Fauci, a skilled immunologist who leads the credible-side of America’s COVID-19 response.

As predicted by civil society medical support NGOs, Canada and the United States are experiencing skyrocketing infection rates but as Dr. Tony Fauci warns, the worst has yet to come.

Early in the North American outbreak, the graphic line representing the rise in COVID-19 infection cases over unit time, days, is almost a vertical line, not a curve. Flattening the curve would be a nice approach but there is no curve.

All through the month of March, experts have been warning Canada and the United States that both countries were heading toward disaster because their populations did not seem to believe in the reality of the SARS-CoV-2 spread that causes the COVID-19 illness.

Today some 90% or more of the colossal number of new infections in North America are community spread, meaning that there is no connection to any external genesis of the infection thread. Made in Canada. Made in the USA.

The Message of Dr. Tam and all of Civil Society around the world for Canadians and Americans has been to disengage from other people, stay home and stay safe. There are many misconceptions even among community leaders.

An earlier warning issued by Canada was supported but 14 days is not enough time.

Courtesy The Nurses Without Borders who since late February have been saying — “In the USA and Canada it is time to lock down. Look at the numbers at nwob.org/cov/. North America has now climbed up the chart faster than most SARS-CoV-2 infected nations on Earth. The USA is a new epicenter. 90%+ Community spread on the latest cases signals a most dangerous situation. Stay home, sleep plenty, exercise an hour daily, drink plenty of water, eat balanced meals & stay clean. Clean all surfaces of your house. Wash with soap. Any soap that foams works fine. Wash your hands constantly, that is, before you touch anything, and after you touch anything. Do not engage with any person outside your family and isolate those of your family who are sick and under your care. Elect a person to do weekly shopping and help that person wear as much protective equipment including a fit-tested N95 mask,” notes Michele Francis of NWOB.org.

“Isolate for 14 days, then send someone to get groceries,” say The Nurses Without Borders. Make sure they are wearing a fit-tested N95 mask because COVID-19 is in the air. Courtesy The Nurses Without Borders

As the Governor of New York recently said, “HealthCare Facilities need rapid Expansion” because it is too late to stop the onslaught of cases.

The impact of the fast rising vertical straight line of COVID-19 cases over short units of time will soon be an overstressing of health care resources, not enough ventilators for patients who need them and needless death of Canadians and Americans.

Experts say it is not too late to mitigate some of the disaster but that will require a massive build-up of healthcare resources, an acknowledgment certain preparedness failures.

Frontline medical workers and Civil Society organizations that support health care workers have been listening to Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization.

Dr. Tedros says, “Test, Trace, Treat”

Blaming the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases on recent rapid testing is false because neither Canada nor the United States has exceeded the number of tests the safest countries do in a week.

To achieve the goals of testing, treating and iolating cases set out by WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros the population of North America must move indoors.

“Forget about social distancing, instead do not engage personally with anyone. Isolate yourself from everyone except the family you live with and isolate members of that family who develop symptoms,” says Dr. Buni in Syria.

Dr. Tedros has said to all governments: “We have a simple message for all countries: test, test, test.

“Test every suspected case,” Dr. Tedros added.

“If they test positive, isolate them and find out who they have been in close contact with up to 2 days before they developed symptoms, and test those people too.”
