Bastille Day tribute to HealthCare Workers & Dr. Tedros Tops List

France’s annual Bastille Day Parade was called off for today, but somehow the replacement was extraordinarily brilliant in its own right. It was a tribute to all healthcare workers that echoes around the world from France through its diplomats and direct from Paris. This video below says it all as Emmanuel Macron, France’s President,  personally greets and thanks the world’s top—embattled like all healthcare workers—HealthCare worker, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director of the World Health Organization.

“France has been convinced we will not overcome COVID-19 without strong international solidarity,” says Ambassador Philippe Etienne, France’s Ambassador to the United States. (Ambassador Philippe Etienne’s Bastille Day video message can be seen below.)

In a message and press invitation to FPM.news in Toronto from France’s Consular office in Toronto, Consul General Tudor Alexis said, “This year Bastille Day, the French national day, will not be a day of celebration in Toronto but a day of tribute to our frontline workers.”

The letter went on to say, “The Consul of France will present gift bags with goodies from France to the workers who help us live in a safe environment. The event will take place from 6:00 a.m onwards on July 14th. It will be followed by the raising of the French flag at Toronto City Hall at 10:00 a.m.”

“Close to 30 000 people have died in France due to COVID-19 and I do not have the heart to celebrate Bastille Day this year the usual way with champagne and other treats. Instead of that I decided to shine the light on one category of frontline workers we never talk about: people who clean our streets, pick the thrown-away masks, compost our refuse and basically help us live in a clean environment day in and day out. Handing over a gift bag to each one of the 1100 staff of the solid waste management team is a small gesture of gratitude to the people who take care of us. This is the true spirit of fraternity that Bastille Day is all about. Of course, there are many categories of front-line workers, starting with medical personnel that we do not wish to ignore. But the idea behind this is to be as inclusive as possible in our approach and to think about certain people who are sometimes forgotten,” said Tudor Alexis.

Meanwhile in France, a set-aside of global drama took place.

That refers to the drama that has unfolded trans-Atlantic between the “sociopath in the White House”, according to Dr. Mary Trump, the US President’s niece whose tell-all book was released from legal bonds today,  and the World Health Organization which the US President Trump has blamed for Trump’s own inglorious incompetence as a leader while millions of Americans suffer the COVID-19 disease that Trump ignored, and still ignores.

The drama set aside was a ‘gift’ moment of relief in a beautiful day made more beautiful as French President Emmanuel Macron honoured and thanked Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organization, the world’s top doctoral official in the fight against COVID-19.
