Cairo Summit 2023 discusses war against the people of Gaza

As huge plumes of smoke rise above homes in Gaza, the pivotal Cairo Summit 2023 began, and both Egypt and Jordan slammed the conduct of Israel’s collective punishment of a population of civilians for the conduct of the Hamas.

“There must be a ceasefire and there must be a move toward a two-state solution,” is often repeated by delegates comprising the top Arab leaders of the world. Israel is not at the table. America is represented by a stand-in bureaucrat.

Hadeel Hashem of BNN news writes from Cairo about Egypt’s crucial role in this pivotal conference, saying “Egypt’s involvement is particularly noteworthy. Sharing a border with Gaza and serving as the primary conduit for goods and people into the territory, Egypt is uniquely positioned to influence the situation. Since the conflict’s inception on October 7, Egypt has advocated for de-escalation and negotiation. It has sought to open the Rafah border crossing to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and the movement of people, a move hindered by Israel’s near-total siege on Gaza.”
