Local planners in Guizhou say they are very excited about this year’s festival, post-Pandemic.

A dragon boat race and family festival will take place from June 23 to 25 on the Wuyang River in Shibing County of southwest China’s Guizhou Province, say local authorities who claim 2,500 athletes from 84 teams will participate in the race. Specifically, this race celebrates the 2023 Duanwu Festival, which began Thursday local time.

The precision rowing, colourful boats and the chills and spills make Dragon Boat Racing a huge spectator sport for the entire family.

Competing in various categories, including male-paddler boats, female-paddler boats, and special male-paddler dragon canoes, enthusiastically plan and paddle for total prize money for the top three teams in each category amounting to 197,000 yuan. In addition, comes sporting cultural recognition and a place in the annals of history. Enthusiasts keep detailed records.
