Linkin Park new frontman is a Woman. New album is From Zero

Women take top positions purely on the basis of talent. Nobody will ever be another Chester Bennington but Emily Armstrong now fronts Linkin Park with beauty plus the voice.

This could be the biggest and most joyful tour of Fall 2024. We needed some good news, didn’t we. Here is the music and your Linkin Park connection.

Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong will take the place of the band’s late frontman Chester Bennington, while Colin Brittain will become the new drummer. Rob Bourdon (drums) has left the band. Linkin Park is on fire and ready to tour. The music is plenty new, a fresh start, and the band is ready for action.

How Linkin Park rebirth happened

Without any prior expectations, according to a 5 September press release, original band members Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn began reconvening quietly in recent years.

According to Warner Records, instead of actively trying to reboot the band, band members followed their instinct to simply spend more time together, rekindling the creativity and camaraderie that had been central to their friendship since their college days.

During this period, says Warner Records, the Linkin Park band members welcomed various friends and collaborators into the studio; among these guests, they developed a special connection with Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain. A natural chemistry pulled these musicians into the Linkin Park orbit as they accumulated hours in the studio, rediscovering the irrepressible energy of a fresh start.

In this season, From Zero emerged. What’s in the name?

Regarding the new chapter, Shinoda commented, “Before Linkin Park, we were originally named Xero. The title of this album reflects both our modest beginnings and the path we are embarking on now. It represents the past, present, and future—honoring our distinctive sound while infusing it with new life. This album was crafted with profound gratitude for our new and long-standing bandmates, friends, family, and fans. We take pride in Linkin Park’s evolution over the years and look forward to the road ahead.”

“The Emptiness Machine” debuts with the essence of Linkin Park, capturing the band’s dynamic energy while maintaining the unique qualities of their recognizable sound. This versatile and memorable anthem features Shinoda’s entrancing melodies transitioning to Armstrong’s powerful chorus, set against the backdrop of heavy riffs and rhythmic drums.

Shinoda further explained, “As we collaborated more with Emily and Colin, we grew to appreciate their exceptional talents, their companionship, and our collective creations. This new lineup has given us a sense of empowerment, and together, we’ve produced vibrant and energetic new music. We’re blending the familiar sonic elements we’re known for with exciting new explorations.”
