“In a tense meeting of executives of The RINJ Foundation with its security contractor, an expert security consultant strongly urged all the departments and units to declare a claim collectively of the right of self-defence in Gaza and the Middle East as a consequence of the bombing in North Gaza of a birthing clinic there where 12 infants were being vaccinated on 7 March 2024.
“Thirty people were killed,” Ms. Carter continued, “including a famous doctor and five other medical personnel. Twelve newborn infants were killed in the bombing which was done with a 500-pound munition that seemed to be overkill. The infants were either waiting their inoculations or were being monitored for a few minutes before release and after receiving their first vaccinations in their lives at around two months of being in this world. Many of the group waiting outside the clinic were spared due to the topography of the waiting space and entrance to the building we had used since 2014.
“There is now a consensus agreement,” she said, “on this, and an announcement will be made as we have done in previous such instances. The number of actions that would be appropriate as an act of self-defence would shock most people but the situation in Gaza is beyond anyone’s ability to believe our experiences so we don’t speak of that any longer, perhaps because of PTSD which we are aware of and switch out workers and treat their health situation where needed, and a certain numbing by repeated occupier atrocities, but we must now act. I leave this to our security contractor which has never let us down, not ever,” explained Dale Carter, security director for The RINJ Foundation who added, “We also have suggestions from the countries which have been assisting us in Gaza and with fist to heart, we thank them for their humanity.”
