Meeting between Iran Pres. Pezeschkian and Vladimir Putin



The nation of Iran, now a full member of BRICS will attend the much-anticipated 16th BRICS summit, 22-24 October, in Kazan, Russia. Iran President Pezeschkian is expected to attend and sign documents arising from meetings this weekend.

In Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, Russian Federation President Putin hosted a meeting with the newly elected Republic of Iran, President Masoud Pezeschkian.

Opening remarks of President Vladimir Putin

“I am very glad, dear Mr. President Pezeschkian, that there is an opportunity to meet you personally and discuss our current issues.

“Relations with Iran are for us a priority, and they are developing very successfully. This year we are seeing an increase in trade. The trend is good.

“We are actively working together at the international scene and our assessments of the events taking place in the world are often very close, even match. I am sure that we will also talk about this today.

“Iran has become a full-fledged participant in the Shanghai cooperation organizations and BRICS. I am waiting for you in Kazan this year at the BRICS summit, where we are scheduled for a Bilateral meeting.

“I am very happy – once again – for the opportunity to get to know you,” concluded President Putin in his welcoming remarks.

I am also very glad that I have the opportunity to meet with you today here [in Turkmenistan].

As you have already noted, relations between our two countries are sincere, and our relations in the areas of cultural, economic, social are growing day by day.

Taking into account the will of the spiritual Leader of the Islamic Revolution, our relations  improve day by day in a strengthened. We have a lot of opportunities now, and we must help each other. Our principles are similar, our positions are similar to you in the international arena.

God willing, we will also take part in BRICS, and the documents that will have to be signed there.

Iranian President Masoud-Pezeshkian, a recently elected Iranian reformer, met with Vladimir Putin Friday. The meeting outcome is noteworthy and the Iranian – Russian alliance is very strong according to the two men in their public statements and supported by aides with the two leaders and other officials meeting this weekend in Turkmenistan.
