World needs to wake to the fact killing or hurting kids is crime

U.S. and Israeli genocidal war crimes on the Gaza Strip enter the 328th day on Thursday as aerial bombing and missile strikes coordinate with artillery strikes and infantry rifle attacks on women and children, massacring untold numbers of civilians. Below is their story.

“Reporters for the Palestinian Information Center said that the Israeli occupation army continued to bomb homes and shelter centers and attack citizens in different areas of Gaza during the past 24 hours,” reports AhlulBayt News Agency: US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza enters day 327 (abna24.com)

Bullets are being fired at babies

Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, a doctor from California told Yenisafak News, “I knew how many children had been killed, I knew about the massive killing in general, but I just assumed it was all from bombings. But, children are being shot in the head deliberately every day. Literally, every day I was there I saw a shot in the head,” he said.

“That is not an accident. That is the deliberate targeting of children. That’s murder,” Dr. Sidhwa added.

Dr. Tammy Abughnaim, a Chicago-based doctor who has volunteered in Gaza twice, also described treating hundreds of children and women seriously injured by Israeli soldiers’ bullets, bombs, shrapnel, and building debris.

“Between 60-70% of those who make it to the hospital are actually children,” said Abughnaim, who worked under extremely difficult conditions in Khan Yunis during her recent mission in July and August.

“I can tell you that I have seen injuries that indicate deliberate targeting of children and deliberate targeting of civilians, so I have seen gunshot wounds to the abdomen of children, to the chest,” she told Yenisafak News.

Humanitarians in Gaza say, “This is the terrifying reality ordinary people suffer in the Gaza Strip so that Bemjamin Netanyahu can stay in power and delay his start in prison,” notes nurse Ai’sha as she walks into a clinic where she will deliver a baby of a raped Palestinian woman. The delivery is complicated so a surgeon will be in attendance.

Abortion is off the procedure discussion list in Gaza for most women hence at this time, the Palestinian women raped by Israeli soldiers in October and in early November have now come to full term, notes Ai’sha, “and our group is very busy right now,” she added.

On 7 August 2024. Türkiye invoked Article 63 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and filed in the Registry of the ICJ a declaration of intervention in the case concerning Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (Case: South Africa v. Israel).

Pursuant to Article 63 of the Statute, whenever the construction of a convention to which
States other than those concerned in the case are parties is in question, each of those States has the right to intervene in the proceedings. If they do so, the construction given by the judgment of the Court will be equally binding upon them.

In availing itself of the right of intervention conferred by Article 63, paragraph 2, Türkiye
relies on its status as a party to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the “Genocide Convention”).

Türkiye considers that the proper construction of Articles I, II, III, IV, V and VI of the
Genocide Convention is in question and is “directly relevant to the resolution of the dispute placed before the Court by South Africa’s Application”. It also reserves the right to submit a request for permission to intervene under Article 62 of the Statute.
In accordance with Article 83 of the Rules of Court, South Africa and Israel have been invited to furnish written observations on Türkiye’s declaration of intervention.

Note: The full text of Türkiye’s declaration of intervention is available on the Court’s website
