Name a place, a street, a sculpture, a square, “Mahsa Amini“, asked global women’s movement.

The ‘Angel of Liberty’ Mahsa Amini, is one of many responses.

“Mahsa Amini, like Neda Agha-Soltan in 2009, has become the face of massive on-going protests for freedom in Iran,” says renown sculptor Paula B Slater.

Ms. Slater unveiled a plaster casting of the bust at a sold-out event sponsored by the American Iranian Women’s Foundation held in San Francisco Sunday 16 October.

In a few weeks a bronze sculpture of Mahsa Amini will be completed from the mold which produced this clay bust, created by sculptor Paula Slater.

“I have sculpted a beautifully detailed life size portrait bust of Mahsa Amini, ‘Angel of Liberty’,” wrote Paula B. Slater in an email.

“Sculpting bronze portraits is my specialty and in 2009, I sculpted the historic bronze portraits of Neda Agha-Soltan and Sohrab Aarabi to support the Iranian protests,” explained sculptor Paula B Slater.

“I felt called again to sculpt the portrait of Mahsa Amini. A plaster cast was just unveiled at the Iranian American Women Foundation Conference in San Francisco to a standing ovation. The mold is now at the bronze foundry. I would love for Mahsa’s family to see it and hope it will bring them comfort.”
