Lawlessness in all of America’s past incarnations was more than frowned on. What happened to cause Americans to elect a grifter and misogynist like Donald Trump into the White House?
In Dodge City, grifters were commonly run out of town by the US Marshal in Gunsmoke as all Americans cheered for 635 episodes from their couches and easy chairs for that action.
Dick Wolf and Mariska Hargitay rewrote history to beat the Gunsmoke 20 season record on CBS in 2018. With what? ‘Law and Order’. That’s maybe when America hopefully stopped electing grifters and misogynists like Donald Trump into the White House?
Fictional US Marshal Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke became a law-and-order legend in up to 30 episodes per season. Gunsmoke was first broadcast on CBS Radio in 1952, then adapted to television, airing on TV from 1955 to 1975. Isn’t it reasonable that America watchers could expect real “law and order”?
US Marshal Dillon of Dodge City, Kansas, working to preserve law and order in the American western frontier of the 1870s was a character created by writer John Meston. Where did that law-and-order thinking go? President Ronald Reagan’s son says there was more than just one grifter in the White House.
“Well, they’re certainly entitled to go campaign for their dad,” Mr. Ron Reagan, son of the 40th US President said of President Donald Trump’s children. “My eldest brother and sister did that, and there’s nothing wrong with that. When you cross the line is — I hate to say it here and I don’t mean to be blunt — but we’ve got a bunch of grifters there in the White House. They’re treating this as a grift.”
The past says plenty about America’s now gone reverence for the rule of law. Americans are gunning each other down every day across the country with over 600 mass shootings so far in 2022 according to the Washington Post.
The amazing James Arness died in 2011. What would he have said about having “a bunch of grifters there in the White House”?
When did America’s adherence to the rule of law fall apart?

Former President Donald Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, to overturn Georgia’s presidential election result in a January 2021 phone call that lasted more than an hour.
During a subsequent hearing in Congress, Representative Adam Schiff played clips of that recording in front of Raffensperger and Georgia elections official Gabriel Sterling, pausing to ask them questions and fact-check the former president’s false claims in real time.
“I’ve been traveling through the state of Georgia for a year now, and simply put, in a nutshell, what happened in fall of 2020 is that 28,000 Georgians skipped the presidential race, and yet they voted down-ballot in other races,” Raffensperger said in response. “And the Republican congressman ended up getting 33,000 more votes than President Trump, and that’s why President Trump came up short.”
