Russian peacekeepers on their way into Donetsk PR and Luhansk PR

Russian peacekeeping troops and probably those of other nations will soon be facing off against 60,000 Ukrainian troops and 400 tanks that have been attacking the People’s Republic of Luhansk and the Donetsk PR.

That was becoming evident early Monday night as a few persons celebrating in the Donetsk PR let it slip that Russia was about to defend them. They were celebrating the recognition by the Russian Federation of the two self-proclaimed nations that have survived Ukraine, NATO and American aggression for eight years in what the Russian Federation has called a genocide.

The peacekeeping troops going into the two recently acknowledged sovereign ethnic Russian Republics will have a peacekeeping role not unlike the  Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in fact, there has been some discussion about pitching this idea to the European Union.

Peacekeepers could be assembled in quick order with peacekeeping contingents from Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and Russia. This would occur if the parties agreed to the move along with a ceasefire and peace accord said Stanislav Zas, secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), last week.

The style of peacekeeping has already been proposed and can be found here.

The CSTO peacekeepers recently earned accolades in Kazakhstan.

“The deployment of CSTO peacekeeping potential in Kazakhstan was timely and effective, and the mechanisms of interagency and interstate interaction and coordination within the organization were practically perfected,” said Olzhas Khusainov, colonel and the head of the international cooperation department at the Kazakh Defense Ministry.
