Final update 23:56 Beijing Time: FPMag has learned that talks between Beijing and Washington have settled the issues and Nancy Pelosi has issued a statement, a concession of sorts,  saying that US policy on One China has not changed.

China will begin military exercises including non-nuclear ballistic missile launches between 4 and 6 August and the operational details have been shared with the USA to make certain both sides are in tune with the benign nature of the operations.

America’s solidarity with the 23 million people of Taiwan is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy.” Nancy Pelosi

“Our visit is one of several Congressional delegations to Taiwan – and it in no way contradicts longstanding United States policy, guided by the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, U.S.-China Joint Communiques and the Six Assurances. The United States continues to oppose unilateral efforts to change the status quo,” said Pelosi.

Military ops planned for near TaiwanChina’s Military exercises planned for the 4th to 6th of August have been shared with Washington.

Nancy Pelosi’s flight was escorted by Taiwanese fighter jets and US military aircraft. At 22:41 the aircraft was at the outer marker on the final approach. The aircraft touched down at 22:44 local time

On the ground at Taiwan’s Songshan Airport, camouflage has reportedly been removed from anti-aircraft guns.

Chinese citizens have been protesting the US Congressional delegation challenging China’s Sovereignty over Taiwan. The Taipei-based Chinese Patriotic Concentric Association took to the street at a site near the Grand Hyatt hotel in the Xinyi district, where Pelosi is reportedly to stay. The crowd ranged from a few hundred to about 1,000 people from various civic groups, according to Globaltimes.cn.
