The politicians and cops have filled international media with videos of Canadian cops bullying citizens and UN reports of disastrously fascist and draconian civil rights abuses across the country,”  complained Daphne in a letter to FPM.news. Nicky Jameson an avid Cherry Blossom photog says, “In 1959, the Japanese ambassador to Canada, Toru-Hagiwara presented 2,000 Japanese Somei-Yoshino Sakura trees to the citizens of Toronto on behalf of the citizens of Tokyo, in appreciation of accepting relocated Japanese-Canadians after the Second World War.”

FPM.news contacted the letter writer and was asked not to identify the letter author’s employer. Daphne spoke eloquently promoting the “tremendous resources for tourists in the amazing City of Toronto where police and everyone behave welcomingly to tourists from near and afar,” she said on WhatsApp.

“During the [COVID-19] pandemic our government bullied everyone and stole our rights doing things that were maybe needed, but would never pass the stink test in the Supreme Court in a Charter challenge. Now the fascists in Ottawa do this every day,” Daphne complained.

“Demonstrators may be correct in law but it is no less true that the Trudeau government, despite doing an awful mitigation job while clobbering the economy with travel bans, saved many Canadian lives by getting folks vaccinated,” said Dr. Fred Harris, team lead for the Civil Society Partners against COVID-19 tracking team in Singapore.

“*mRNA Vaccination is not preventing COVID-19 illness—no SARS2 vaccine is achieving that, and none of the existing vaccines, I suspect, will ever be approved for that purpose in long term use, only interim emergency use,” said Dr. Harris.

“Canada mandating masks was a good idea but mandating the wrong masks—foolish pieces of cloth face coverings worn below the nose—was a catastrophic failure. Full FFR respirators are indicated all around the world. Canada is one of the worst COVID-hit countries on the planet despite nearly vaccinating everyone. Yes, Canadians are angry. And its government’s performance has been very political, dodging a systemic issue with long term care facilities,” said Dr. Harris.

“Some 80% of COVID-19 deaths in Canada involved persons living in long term care facilities. COVID-19 exposed significant structural deficiencies in the way these Canadian facilities are staffed and how they are operated. It is about time somebody in the Trudeau administration found the guts to admit that fact instead of beating up on the demonstrators for complaining,” said Dr. Harris, team lead for the Civil Society Partners against COVID-19 tracking team in Singapore.

*Note: The CDC says, “COVID-19 mRNA vaccines provide protection against COVID-19 hospitalization among adults. However, how well mRNA vaccines protect against the most severe outcomes of COVID-19–related illness, including use of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) or death, is uncertain.”

Pediatrician Peter Hotez and his team at Texas Children’s Hospital developed a vaccine produced in India and Indonesia, and are sharing patents, technology and making partnerships with the two countries, Bangladesh and South Africa with the goal of distribution across sub-Saharan Africa.  The issue is, as Dr. Hotez notes, G7 countries like Canada and global policy makers like Trudeau are not helping. They may be drowning in their own self-created vaccine-hogging misery.

Vaccines intended to make a lot of money for  stakeholders are not working as well as vaccines intended for solving vaccine inequities. Examples are Cuba’s own highly effective vaccine committed to equitable distribution, with exports to Vietnam and Venezuela in progress and Dr. Hotez’s Texas Children’s Hospital project.

Threats to Canadian children and the deleterious impact of COVID-19 policies. Protecting the most vulnerable Canadians from bad government.

Canada ranks 30th out of 38 affluent nations for protecting the well-being of children, according to UNICEF – a significant drop from 12th place in 2007. healthy childhood, one in three Canadians  report experiencing abuse before the age of 15,
one in five children live in poverty, and suicide is now the leading cause of death for children aged 10 to 14. Childhood is threatened for millions of children from all walks of life, but the odds are particularly stark for Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) and other racialized children.
