Canada slammed by SARS-CoV-2 Omicron. People urged to take action.

Video: “It would be very, very shortsighted at this time to assume lower case numbers mean lower risks”, said Dr. Mike Ryan of the WHO.

“Canada is heading for a stark awakening on the risks of pretending the pandemic is over,” warns Dr. Kathy Poon of the Civil Society Partners against COVID-19 tracking team of scientists in Singapore.

In a recent WHO press conference (video above) on Ukraine and COVID-19, which FPM.news attended, all of the top doctors at WHO stressed that the pandemic is not over until it ends everywhere. While deaths in the past few days have dropped, cases are again climbing in some areas. Canada is one of those areas.

The most profound revelation at the pressor was within a soliloquy of Dr. Tedros, the WHO boss.

Dr. Tedros  was addressing the Ukraine war which came around to questioning whether the world “gives equal attention to black and white lives”.

Why? Because according to WHO statements and the World Food Program recent report, both agencies are short enormous sums of money after fulfilling the demands of Ukraine. In fact, the WFP says it has stopped feeding everyone who needs food, because the WFP is spending $71 million more each month due to increased food and fuel prices around the world, while also enduring a $9 billion shortfall in funds.

Our editors agreed, Dr. Tedros was eloquent and succinct on the racial inequity issue, particularly as it relates to the availability of vaccines.

“I don’t know if the world really gives equal attention to Black and White lives,” he said. “I said it last week, the whole attention to Ukraine is very important, of course, because it impacts the whole world. But even a fraction of it is not being given to Tigray, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria and others.”

The Pandemic is not over until it is over everywhere.

“Omicron has become increasingly infectious through many subvariants and recombinant variations. The minutia of the subvariants is less important than the overall message that this is the most transmissible variant of SARS-CoV-2,” explains Dr. Fred Harris of the Civil Society Partners against COVID-19 tracking team of scientists in Singapore.

“Mitigation efforts must now be taken by individuals. Don’t count on governments to hold your hand, anywhere,” says Doctor Poon in Singapore. “Here is a collection of recommendations from doctors but be sure to ask your own doctor, if you have one,” she added.

“Wear an N95 mask when near strangers or the infected—better yet, whenever you go out; keep your hands clean; do not touch your face ever; keep your home clean; learn about sterilization; isolate yourself if you become ill; and report symptoms to your doctor. These are a few of the advice items suggested by many doctors and government agencies for self management of one’s health in a SARS-CoV-2 infectious environment,” explains Dr. Poon.

“I suggest people consult their own doctor to learn of local resources. COVID-19 is killing many people in Canada, so far over including estimates of the excess deaths never attributed to COVID-19 because a test was not conducted or because it was finally a local medical examiner who determined cause of death in the rural regions of Canada.

“Three doses of vaccine are needed for full protection and to be fully vaccinated,”  Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, the WHO Chief Scientist said on Wednesday.

“Statistics prove unequivocally that Omicron kills the unvaccinated,” added Dr. Harris who also attended the pressor in Geneva.
