BioNTech Woman scientist’s COVID-19 jab for small children gets nod as Health Summit winds down in Berlin with a warning

The COVID-19 vaccine of BioNTech Chief Medical Officer Dr. Oezlem Tuereci, whose hard work produced the BNT162b2 vaccine PFizer sells in the USA as a COVID-19 vaccine response will have her vaccine approved for small children, possibly available in November.

As reported in FPM.news in mid September, BioNTech announced that tests were successful on the 5-to-11 group of children and a dosing regimen was established successfully. The BioNTech vaccine is already approved for children over 12.

An advisory  committee to the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just issued a 17 to 0 vote in favour of advising the US FDA to approve for children from 5 to 11 years of age the BioNTech (BNTX) BNT162b2 vaccine distributed by Pfizer in the United States, according to the FDA.

The board heard evidence that thousands of children between  5 and 11 have been hospitalized with Covid-19 and nearly 100 died from COVID-19.  The advisory board is called, ‘Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, Food and Drug Administration‘.

According to BioNTech, the company has been, “collaborating with Pfizer to develop mRNA‐based vaccines for the prevention of influenza since August 16, 2018.”

“This is wonderful news,” said Dr. Nassima al Amouri, who is a medical director and clinician working in the Middle East.

“I cannot say this strongly enough to parents around the world: Get yourselves and your kids vaccinated as soon as you possibly can, because I and my team plus physicians all around the world do not want to see you or your children becoming ill,” the doctor said.

“Let the men sit on the couch and debate whether Taiwan should be accepted as a full member of the UN, and women, you fetch the kids to go get a vaccine as fast as you can get an appointment. And I am saying this every day,” Dr. Nassima al Amouri added.

COVAX News is Worrisome. Only 14% of Vaccine commitments by rich nations have been delivered.

Also in the COVID-19 news is a report, A Dose of Reality, which found that of the 1.8 billion COVID vaccine donations promised by wealthy nations, only 261 million doses (14%) have been delivered by 25 October 2021, while western pharmaceutical companies have delivered only 12% of the doses they allocated to COVAX despite their skyrocketing profits and bonuses to executives. COVAX is the initiative designed to help low and middle income nations get fair access to SARS-CoV2 vaccines.

COVID-19 Tools Accelerator

President von der Leyen and President Emmanuel Macron have joined with WHO to launch the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator, to scale up the development and delivery of safe and effective vaccines, treatments and diagnostics to the world’s most at-risk people in all countries, said the UN secretary General on Monday.

President Macron and Chancellor Angela Merkel, have increased their commitment to support WHO’s coordinating role in the global public health architecture.

During the World Health Summit in Berlin, on Sunday, UN Secretary‑General António Guterres said in a recorded video speech that “We need manufacturers and countries alike to fulfil their dose-sharing pledges — including through swaps — and share the technology and intellectual property that can allow more countries to produce vaccines.”
