America still has highest COVID-19 active cases ever despite recovery talk. Wear N95, get vaccinated say scientists

“Having demonstrated a cavalier attitude toward COVID-19 mitigation, and based on it being the COVID-19 epicenter, it is unlikely that the USA will escape a winter spike in COVID-19 infections as temperatures drop. SARS-CoV-2 has indicated that it does not flourish as well in hot humid weather,” explains biostatistician and infectious disease researcher Fred Harris.

“Now that I have seen an abundance of news coverage of school officials and parents slugging it out in donnybrooks over mask wearing, I am willing to go out on a limb and suggest Americans need psychiatry more than epidemiology, but in the meantime wear an N95 respirator and get vaccinated,” he added.

“The reason why we’re going to get through this and the reason why we’re going to accelerate our way through this pandemic to an endemic phase with this virus is because of vaccines,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CNN’s Chris Cuomo last night.

    • America is still experiencing 1,100 to 1,600 deaths per day from COVID-19 according to all biostatisticians currently aggregating the data including the Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), and the CSPaC.
    • IHME scientists forecast 1,229,517 excess COVID-19 deaths in the USA based on the current projection scenario by 1 January 2022. That calculation indicates well over a million deaths today at 1.1 million deceased due to COVID-19.
    • America needs 68,000 hospital beds for today’s most ill COVID-19 patients out of  its 9.7 million active infections.
    • 28,000 Intensive Care beds are needed according to IHME.

America is an a regrettable state America is in the unenviable state of being half the world’s active COVID-19 infected and over 1.1 million excess deaths. Of the current infections, expect another 150,000 deaths even if there are no addtinal infections, explains biostatistician Kathy Poon from the SCPaC in Singapore.

That is not 1.1 million reported deaths, but real world actual deaths caused by the disease.

Britain’s Health and Social Care Committee of Parliament concurs with UN/WHO message on Global Vaccine Sharing

Britain is till seeing hundreds of deaths every week, according to a report released yesterday, by the British House of Commons Health and Social Care, and Science and Technology Committees entitled Coronavirus: lessons learned to date.

Importantly, the report notes on vaccine distribution that “COVID-19 is a global pandemic and its infectiousness does not recognise national borders. Witnesses have consistently pointed out to our Committees that, as with the initial virus itself, border restrictions could at best delay and not prevent the incursion of new variants into the United Kingdom—as the experience of Australia and New Zealand has shown.”

“That means that there is a national interest, as well as our moral obligation, to act globally to ensure that vaccination is made available as quickly as possible to all countries in the world. The United Kingdom has long been a leader in providing and coordinating medical assistance, especially to those countries in the world that lack our wealth and scientific and medical assets,” says the  the White Paper from the British Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19 response.
