For this article FPM.news organized a virtual coffee clutch of moms to discuss pandemic and climate change events which slam mothers every single day now, impacting families, bringing the worst trauma, and an extinction threat. Yes. Moms know that, feel that, and fight that threat.

FPM.news asked some moms and their kids how moms are coping with the trials of life lately and came up with a stark conclusion from their answers: ‘Moms should be running the world’.

Simon Sinek writes to say in his book “Leaders Eat Last“, that a study of hundreds of leaders throughout history indicate that outstanding leaders give; protect; and they eat last. That describes a mom, is the feminine-perspective.

“Bad examples are being set for children and people who behave like children, in the streets, in the news, in the stores, all over the world,” says a Jakarta mom. She referred to America’s crass politicians, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump and Joseph Biden among them.

This conversation bubble was not a happy, hopeful place, but the learning from moms’ coping methods was instructive.

Moms are getting slammed with lockdowns; drowned in floods owed to pollution and climate change crises; scared by COVID-19; suffering parental loss to ‘the virus’; fighting for the remains of a short supply of family food staples at colossal prices; oppressed by soaring grocery prices; “kids-up-to-here 24/7” without relief from child care; and ‘bad examples are being set for children and people who behave like children in the streets, in the news, in the stores, all over the world’, said one women in the study group.

Mothers were leading the fight against pollution Before the Paris Accord.

“I am trying to get justice for my daughter,” said Rosamund Kissi-Debrah, whose 9-year-old daughter suffered a fatal asthma attack in 2013.

Ms. Kissi-Debrah said that after “reading studies about the dangers of air pollution,” she realized that her daughter was not alone,  Jenny Gross writes in her New York Times report: ‘Justice for my daughter’: Parents issue a plea on air pollution.

Ms. Kissi-Debrah and five friends brought a  letter to Alok Sharma, the president of the Glasgow COP26 demanding change because they need to protect their children from the  impact of air pollution on human health.

Moms who lead effectively, protectively, giving of their all, are gleaming examples of excellence in leadership.

  • Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria is a mom of three kids, and this former President of Chile is today the 7th United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the former head of UN Women.
  • Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern, in addition to being a mom, is a New Zealand politician who has been the 40th prime minister of New Zealand and leader of the Labour Party since 2017.

COVID‐19 outbreak is a great human tragedy “moms face with endless tears at night while their family sleeps,” FPMag learned from this gathering of mothers at the end of November 2021.

In the long progression of human suffering, there have been other momentous times of loss, ranging from wars to genocides to massive oppression to other pandemics, but never one so widespread across such an interconnected world. Many people have died; still, more are critically ill. World economies and social structures suffer, and with this comes vulnerabilities to totalitarian and authoritarian politics in many countries,” wrote clinical psychiatrist Jay Lebow in mid-May 2020 in a report for the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine

COVID‐19 has prompted increasingly remote digital app practices and a considerable evolution in the methods and ethics for practice delivered through digital technology. For those who do marriage and family therapy, issues are complex with limited guidance from historical experience.

Therapists and and public health workers like the woman in this picture below, who have gained their caring experience in war zones, say that the methods and procedures used to help families in war zones during periods of high trauma, are perfect right now for the world: “We are all at war, now,” she says.

Surviving the Pandemic: “Stay calm and maintain family cohesion morale,” says war zone practitioner who is also a mom.

Protect the children from the delta variant. “Protect the children from the omicron and delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. Stay calm. Focus in priorities. Maintain family cohesion morale, stay calm. Wear an N95 respirator mask and get children vaccinated as soon as possible.” An RSAC family care counsellor and medical practitioner  teaches older children how to wear respirator masks and monitors how well they are doing, checking fit, habits, oximeter readings and general health during activity.

Screen one: “Moms are needed to tell other nations not to do what the really bad kids on the block are doing, like hording vaccines against Africa, then punishing Arica for getting sick. This is not just a foolish man in the White House, this is what America is like.”

Screen three: “I have blocked our satellite converter from letting the kids see the American shows like CNN and Fox News and made sure they have no toys that are about guns or killing people. They didn’t, but I have made sure, all their lives. But every day on the news was another story about Americans killing each other with their guns. I thought that I need to protect my family from this hate filled talk”

Screen four: “America’s crass politicians, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump and Joseph Biden are making everyone sick with their anti-women, killing-kids, anti-vaccine, anti-mask, anti-science, hate-filled, irresponsible, phony-promise speeches and actions. Supporting the killing of women and children in Gaza during May and bombing little children in Afghanistan then mocking women who wear a hijab and eat hallal, like these Americans do is making my blood boil. What they say while they cause deaths around the world tells me they are racist murderers and me and my family, peaceful Asian Muslims are doomed. My kids are doomed in this world. They must not show their religion or ethnicity in public? Are we hiding or is this lockdown?  These are sick, evil people who attack Africans because they are black and destroy Asian countries like Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Iran because they are Islamic folks. And that sad black man from Ethiopia, [Dr. Tedros, WHO] pleading for help to stop the deaths and help the nomads in Africa who don’t understand any of this. I feel so sad for that man who looks like he will cry any minute he is so sad.” [Translated]

Screen six: “Moms globally are fighting for the safety of their children and for human rights around the world. And Women’s rights are Human rights for those who never thought of that,” said a teenaged mother who said her favourite world leader is Tsai Ing-wen the Taiwanese President of the Republic of China since 2016, “a woman who gave up marriage and family to make all her citizens her family and children.”

Screen seven: “All my children have asthma and allergies. Since each child was born I have been sewing multi-layered cloth masks to filter out the toxic pollutants that exacerbate their asthma attacks. Our governments don’t give a damn about children and take grants and campaign donations from oil companies so they do nothing to sop pollution or they don’t get free money. Which isn’t free, actually, it is causing my children great suffering and it’s costing us all our lives.”

FPM.news asked the women what if anything had inspired them during the pandemic. The answer was surprising, or was it? Moms’ favourite Dad-Grandad-Crooner: “Tony Bennett, at age 95, did his final show with Lady Gaga. Thank you Tony.
Thank you so much, Tony Bennett, for everything,” they said.
