World view on Gaza massacre, ethnic cleansing, in Jerusalem

In order to ease the stress on the Palestinian public health system in Gaza, the Egyptians are opening the border to accept medical evacuations of Palestinians.

Currently the health system in Gaza is overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients plus a thousand bombing casualties according to four sources among the health care community in Gaza.

The Gaza health system has survived fifteen years of Israeli blockade with very little resources. One thing that is needed, say health care sources, is whole blood. “Please ask readers to donate blood, please,” said one 42-year-old woman who is a ten-year veteran in Gaza who prefers not to be named for security reasons.

In Gaza,982 injured Palestinians, 132 Palestinians killed (over 32 children 35 women) is what the Palestinian health ministry is indicating following a pre-dawn Friday raid against Gaza by Israel with 160 aircraft as well as tanks and artillery firing from outside the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus.

“Thousands of innocent civilians have been displaced from their homes,” said a distraught health care worker who has not had a break for over 18 hours. She took a Telegram call while doing an intake examination for a woman with a crush injury.

Reaction around the world ranges from perfunctory to passionate emotion. Some of the best comments may have been heard attacking Joe Biden’s endorsement of Benjamin Netenyahu’s war crimes.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) said in Congress on Thursday that, “Palestinians aren’t going anywhere no matter how much money you send to Israel’s apartheid government,” Tlaib added, referring to the $3.8 billion in annual military aid  Congress sends Israel.

Perfunctory urging for restraint from the United Nations, from the British, Americans, from France and very terse urging from Egypt and from the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court have all been ignored by Benjamin Netanyahu.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, is anything but perfunctory. President Erdogan said “Israel needs to be taught a lesson [translated].”

“We are both saddened and furious at the cruelty of the terrorist state of Israel against Palestinians,” Erdogan told a virtual meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party.

Israeli Artillery shells Gaza AP Reports that “Saleh Aruri, an exiled senior Hamas leader, told London-based satellite channel Al Araby early Friday that his group has turned down a proposal for a three-hour lull to allow for more negotiations toward a full cease-fire. He said Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations were leading the truce efforts.”
“Also on Friday, the Israeli military said air and ground troops struck Gaza in what appeared to be the heaviest attacks yet. Masses of red flames illuminated the skies as the deafening blasts from the outskirts of Gaza City jolted people awake. The strikes were so strong that screams of fear could be heard from people inside the city, several kilometers away.”
“I said we would extract a very heavy price from Hamas,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a videotaped statement. “We are doing that, and we will continue to do that with heavy force.”

Najla Shawa, a humanitarian worker in Gaza describes a complete destruction of infrastructure of Gaza, much worse than 2014. She describes massive explosions all night long hence nobody is sleeping. She has her two daughters sleeping on the floor of the bedroom and is playing background sounds they are familiar with to shutter out the bombing sounds from outside.

Ms. Shawa describes a sense of solidarity with her neighbours who have stayed behind. Many horrified residents have fled.

Netanyahu killing Palestinians appeals to the right-wing fundamentalists in the Israeli Parliament, but the violence is exploding into the streets. All streets.

According to his detractors, Israel’s caretaker PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, who desperately fights for his political life, is trying to appeal to the extreme right-wing members of the Knesset, the legislative branch of the Israeli government, to build  a coalition that would keep him in power.

Netanyahu has failed for two years, to stay in power despite many elections. He wants another election, say sources, “and needs his job in order to combat the Israeli Attorney General’s indictments of fraud and corruption against him as well as a growing ICC case against him”.

“In all, Netanyahu is going to jail. If you are the Prime Minister and the attorney General charges you with corruption, it is serious; there is lots of proof; and you are going to jail,” says Simon Baldock, an Israeli security consultant.

Biden throws a match on the gasoline.

“My expectation and hope is that this will be closing down sooner than later, but Israel has a right to defend itself when you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory,” President Biden said to reporters at the White House on Wednesday this week.

By the end of Friday, the world knows a clearly unbriefed US president described Israel’s ethnic cleansing campaign as defending itself. By displacing thousands of civilians from their homes and killing hundreds while destroying their homes?

Biden described a Hamas response to Israeli police storming the al-Aqsa mosque compound in East Jerusalem on Laylat al-Qadr as “you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory“.

“While Biden’s comments were predictable, the world is a different place than what the aging Biden may have as a paradigm context for his awkward comments which have put his government and the United States in shame.  America also used its veto as a permanent member to block a meeting of the UN Security Council. Maybe this is the new America, one that admits that it is a pariah in a human rights context,” suggests Baldock.

Joe Biden gave the green light to Israel’s violence in Gaza. The violence has since exploded as a massacre of Palestinian Arabs,” he added.

“It was an epically stumbling and incompetent address to the world on the Gaza matter endorsing Israel’s violence against Palestinians,”

Within hours of Biden’s genocide endorsement, violence exploded with a hundred and sixty airplanes bombing Gaza to the curb and nearly a thousand injuries, almost 150 deaths, half children and women in their homes in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel’s communities with Arabs and Jews living in the same areas called “mixed communities”, the armed extremist Israeli Jewish militias attacked and killed or injured Palestinian Arabs, children and women included.

Vladimir Putin says he sees the Gaza crisis as a security threat to his country.

In a meeting with the Russian Security Council, President Vladimir Putin suggested discussing the situation in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip prior to the scheduled agenda.

“I would like to ask my colleagues to comment on the current situation in the Middle East, I mean the escalated Palestinian-Israeli conflict – this is happening in the immediate vicinity of our borders and directly affects our security interests,” he said.

Letter to the UN Secretary General and the UN Security Council from Dr. Riyad Mansour Minister, Permanent Observer

Excellency,
The situation in Occupied Palestine, including East Jerusalem, is becoming graver by the hour as Israel, the occupying Power, continues its onslaught, unleashing all means of lethal military aggression against the defenseless Palestinian civilian population. Israel is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in broad daylight, causing widespread human carnage and suffering and directly threatening risking regional and international peace and security.

We reiterate our appeals to the international community to act to stop Israel’s slaughter of innocent civilians, including children and women, to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif from attacks by the occupying Power and its extremist settlers, and to stop the systematic expulsion of Palestinian families from their homes and ethnic cleansing from their land.

The United Nations Security Council has a foremost duty to act to uphold its Charter mandate to maintain international peace and security and in respect of its own resolutions. We call on the Council yet again —joined by countries and people all over the world, as evidenced in the many statements and appeals issued — to rise to its responsibilities to stop these violations and to save innocent lives.

Since my letter yesterday, I regret to inform that the casualty toll of Israel’s military aggression against the Gaza Strip has continued to rise.

As of the writing of this letter, 65 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes deliberately targeting civilian areas, in grave breach of international law. Among those killed by the Israeli occupying forces are 16 children and 5 women, and several of the casualties are members of the same family.

There can be no justification whatsoever for such barbaric attacks on a civilian population and such blatant disregard for human life.

As the Security Council remains silent, Israeli war planes have already today launched over 40 air strikes, preceded by over 100 air strikes over the past two days, terrorizing the entire population. In addition to the dead, more than 330 Palestinians have been injured in these airstrikes, overwhelming hospitals in Gaza, which have already been depleted by years of Israel’s illegal blockade and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, as systematically committed by Israel in its repeated aggressions on Gaza, homes, including multi-story buildings, have been destroyed, displacing dozens of families, and civilian infrastructure continues to be hit, including the central warehouse of the Palestine Red Crescent in Gaza.

The occupying army also continue its violence against Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of Occupied Palestine, attacking peaceful protesters and causing more civilian casualties. A 16-year old boy was shot in the head and chest and killed in an Israeli raid on the village of Tubas, and a 26-year old young man was killed by Israeli soldiers in Al-Fawwar refugee camp. Another young Palestinian was run over by an Israeli army jeep suffering multiple injuries and at least 192 Palestinians have been injured by occupying forces across the occupied West Bank today, including in occupied East Jerusalem.

At the same time, Israeli colonial settlers continue their terror rampages, attacking Palestinian civilians, including Palestine Red Crescent medical teams attempting to tend to the injured. Extremist settlers and occupying forces also persist with their provocations, racist and hateful incitement and violence against Palestinian civilians who continue to gather in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem in peaceful protest of Israel’s criminal policies and the plans to forcibly displace Palestinian families from their homes, in what would constitute a blatant war crime.
We remind once again that Israel is not the sovereign in occupied East Jerusalem, regardless of its claims or recognition unlawfully bestowed upon it by any other country. There is absolutely no legitimacy to these claims. It is an occupying Power in our land, has no sovereignty rights whatsoever and is bound by international law, including humanitarian and human rights law, in any and all actions taken there. This includes at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram A|-Sharif. Israel must cease its violations of the sanctity of this holy site and respect the historic and legal status quo in word and deed and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s custodianship. It must cease its obstruction of the right of Muslim worshippers to peacefully pray there and cease its incessant intimidation, harassment and attacks on worshippers.
All such attacks, provocations and incitement by Israeli government officials, military commanders and forces, and colonial settlers constitute breaches of international law, for which they must be held fully accountable. The international community, particularly the Security Council, must act with immediacy to demand that Israel cease its attacks against the Palestinian civilian population, including in the Gaza Strip, and cease all other illegal Israeli actions and measures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, including a halt to plans to forcibly displace and ethnically cleanse Palestinians from the City.
Moreover, we call on the international community as a whole to fulfill collective obligations, including as High Contracting Parties to the 4″” Geneva Convention, to undertake measures to uphold international law, including measures to compel Israel, the occupying Power, to abide by its legal obligations and to ensure protection to the occupied population. It is high time for the international community to seriously pursue measures to hold Israel accountable for its grave breaches, including, inter alia, at the International Criminal Court. The singling-out of Israel for exemption from the same rules and norms that the rest of the world is obligated to abide by must stop. Innocent lives and the prospect for a just, peaceful, secure future for all are dependent on this.
This letter is in follow-up to our 715 letters regarding the ongoing crisis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, which constitutes the territory of the State of Palestine. These letters, dated from 29 September 2000 (A/55/432-S/2000/921) to 11 May 2021 (A/ES-10/xxx-S/2021/xxx) constitute a basic record of the crimes being committed by Israel, the occupying Power, against the Palestinian people since September 2000. For all of these war crimes, acts of State terrorism and systematic human rights violations being committed against the Palestinian people, Israel, the occupying Power, must be held accountable and the perpetrators must be brought to justice.
I should be grateful if you would arrange to have the text of the present letter made available to the members of the Security Council for their immediate, valuable consideration and also distributed as an official document of the Security Council.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
