“There is a component of complacency over the wearing of protective equipment that may contribute to the viral load that young persons have been demonstrating of late in many countries,” noted Harris.
“It seems possible some governments have exploited mask-refusers as an excuse for not making N95s available to their populations.”
“It is time to blow the lid off the Filtering Face Piece Respirator (FFP) fail along with other fails, like the uncovered Filipino nose under an air scoop that fetches large flows of Manila air past Filipino bare eyes and noses,” said Harris.

According to one PPE manufacturer, “face shields are made of a plastic or Plexiglas panel around the face with an elastic strap that holds the panel in place. There shouldn’t be any gaps between the forehead and the shield’s headpiece. Face shields with large gaps at the top and the bottom are clearly dangerous as they scoop and channel all air the wearer walks their head through, past their nose and eyes. Within that scooped and accelerated air there may be all manner of pathogens no matter the head is down or up. Channeling virus laden air in Manila past the nose and eyes is contraindicated.”
