Afghanistan Updates. CENTCOM unmanned strike against ISIS Planner

US citizens have been warned to leave ‘immediately’ from the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul Afghanistan where the US Military, particularly Rangers and Marines have been overseeing the evacuation of coalition civilian families and others.

America has conducted an over the horizon unmanned (drone) attack against an ISIS ‘planner’ in Nangahar, Afghanistan, probably involved in the 26 August 2021 Kabul Airport attack killing nearly 200 Sunni Muslim locals and 13 US military service personnel.

United Nations says Staffers remain in Afghanistan

U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Friday that about 3,000 Afghan nationals and 200 international staffers are continuing their work for the U.N. inside Afghanistan, providing humanitarian aid.

Turkey has Left Afghanistan

Turkey has now evacuated its civilians and soldiers from Afghanistan although a small number of technicians will remain for necesary functions, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday.

“We transported our citizens to our country. Currently we have a small number of technical elements. Apart from this, we have withdrawn all our teams,” Erdogan told a news conference in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Taking a swipe at the USA, Erdogan said, “Countries that say they are the strongest in the world should leave the places they enter much more carefully,” he said. “Leaving these countries by handing them over to terrorist organizations has a high cost.”

Germany Has Left Afghanistan

All German troops returned to the German air base of Wunstorf on Friday, after rescuing more than 5,300 people from 45 nations out of Kabul.
It was a spectacularly emotional display as the three returning military aircraft landed at Wunstorf, greeted by the base fire engines formatted to spray arching fountains of water for the planes to pass through as a welcome ceremony.

Public Display of Mental Health Issues Gets Military User of Facebook Relieved of Duty

In an unusual display of what may have been PTSD, or too heavy a dose of sipping whisky, a US Marine Lieutenant-Colonel Stuart Scheller posted a protest video on Facebook just as ISIS was slaughtering nearly 200 people at the Hamid Karzai International Airport demanding from military leaders a detailed accounting and the rationale for the tardy evacuation of Afghanistan, say sources in Qatar.

This did not go well for Mr. Scheller who has been unceremoniously relieved of his duties and will leave the US Marines. Scheller posted his video to Facebook and LinkedIn on Thursday, the day of an ISIS assault resulting in 28 US Marines, two rangers and a single sailor as casualties, 13 of whom succumbed to their injuries, and reportedly slaughtered as many as 170 Afghanis.

“Gen. Mark Milley’s planners, airmen and soldiers have raised the bar on what level of effort should be given to rescuing civilians in harm’s way according to widespread consensus.”  Few people will ever forget the crew of the first, August 2021, evacuation C-17 departing Kabul crammed with 600-plus souls aboard, despite weight-and-balance  regulations. All passengers were rescued safely. Hopefully the crew will be decorated because this is a way of thinking that goes above and beyond the call of duty.  Editor
